Metal Tubular Products Chrome-moly pipe A335. Ferritic alloy steel pipe ASTM A335 (ASME S/A335, Chorme-Moly) is seamless and intended for use in high temperature applications. Pipe ordered in accordance with this standard must be capable of fusion welding as well as bending, flanging (vanstoning), and other equivalent forming operations.
Molybdenum (Mo) and chromium (Cr) are the two components that give Chrome Moly Pipes their name. In order to prevent oxidation in high temperature applications, Cr improves the tensile, yield, and hardness properties (at room temperature). In specific circumstances, Mo is known to raise temperature strength, decrease brittleness, strengthen the elastic limit, improve hardenability, and reduce brittleness. More than 17 types of chrome moly pipe, sometimes referred to as "P Grade" materials, are available; the most popular P-types are P5, P9, P11, P22, and P9.
It is well known that A335 / SA335 material is widely utilized in many different plants & processes all over the world, including refineries, power plants, petro-chemical plants, hydrocrackers, cokers, high and ultra high temperature lines, reheat lines, distillation, oil field services, etc. P5 and P9 are typically the P grades that are used the most in refineries. P11, P22, and P91 are the P grades that are most frequently utilized in petrochemical and power generation facilities. However, a brief examination of what seem to be similarly planned facilities reveals that they do not always employ the same plumbing standards. For instance, what is referred to as a "natural gas processing plant" may include a wide variety of designs and piping systems.
